Hi everybody! It’s quite a long time since I last posted a duo or multichrome polish, right? And here’s one! This is NYC Frozen Silver, a green to purple duochrome. Super cheap and very pretty. NYC Frozen Silver was for me what Nubar Indigo Illusion was not. The colours are less grey-ish and way more vibrant. I prefer this NYC so much better.

Pics are two coats over –I believe- a gray base.

Ciao a tutti! E’ un po’ che non vi faccio vedere qualche smalto duo o multicromatico quindi direi che è ora. Ecco il NYC Frozen Silver, un camaleonte che vira da verde a viola. Molto bello e anche economico (1,99€). Per me il NYC Frozen Silver è stato quello che mi è mancato nel Nubar Indigo Illusion. I colori nel NYC sono meno grigiastri e più vividi. Mi piace molto di più!

In foto sono due passate su base –credo- grigia.

I know green to purple is the most common duochrome shift but I must say this is one of the best I have used so far (talking about core polishes, not indies).

Do you own any of the NYC duochromes? I have 2 more I believe and I can’t wait to try them, too!

Mi rendo conto che il cambio colore da verde a viola è in assoluto il più comune ma devo anche dire che questo è stato uno dei migliori che ho provato fino ad ora, contando solo le marche standard e non gli smalti indie.

Voi ne avete qualcuno dei NYC duocromatici? Io se non erro altri due che non vedo l’ora di usare!

Hi everyone! Weather was meant to get worse over here, and I started having some tip wraps on my Catherine Arley 801. So my idea was to hide the tip wrap by using some full nails water decals from BornPrettyStore. These come from the D190 set and they have this pretty optical pattern.

Using them was quite easy. Just put them into a bowl of water, wait 30 seconds, and they will lift from their paper. At that point you just place them on your nails and you’re done. Almost! I found out that cuticles’ cleaning was tricky. Nail polish remover will actually dissolve the black pattern, but it stains so bad. What I did was using a q-tip for the big cleaning, and then finished it up with a brush dipped into acetone.

Have a look at the result, I love it!

Il meteo dava un peggioramento del tempo e in più lo smalto di venerdì stava iniziando a consumarsi sulle punte quindi ho avuto l’idea di coprirlo con dei trasferelli (decalcomanie a esser pignoli) ad acqua. Questi arrivano da BornPrettyStore e sono il set D190, con questi disegni optical che adoro.

Usarli è semplicissimo. Si mettono a bagno per 30 secondi e loro si staccano dalla carta di base. A quel punto basta spiaccicarli (termine altamente tecnico) sulle unghie e voilà, fatto. Quasi. Devo dire che la pulizia cuticole mi è stata particolarmente antipatica. Il solvente scioglie il nero di questi decals ma macchiano molto. Io ho usato un cotton-fioc imbevuto di solvente per togliere il grosso dell’eccedenza, e poi ho rifinito con un pennellino, sempre imbevuto di solvente.

Questo è il risultato che trovo carinissimo!

Beware of top coats! You shouldn’t use a fast drying one because it will smudge the pattern, no matter how long you wait. I won’t show you the whole fail but believe me. Below you can see D-191 set. On my pinkie I used Catrice Quick Dry & High Shine top coat and it smudged badly. The other 3 nails in the photo have no top coat at all. Because I had already damaged a nail I went on and tested 3 different top coats. Two of them were fast drying one, while the last one is a standard top coat (NYC Classy Glassy that I also used above). The nail I used a standard top coat instead of a fast drying one is the only one that didn’t smudge.

Other than that I loved this pattern even more than the previous one. I kept the second set (i.e. the half for the other hand) to use it for accent nails :)

Occhio al top coat! Non dovete usarne uno ad asciugatura rapida perchè vi macchierà l’immagine, non importa quanto aspettiate. Non vi faccio vedere il macello finale che ho combinato, fidatevi :D Sotto potete vedere il set D-191, sul mignolo avevo usato il top coat Catrice Quick Dry & Hight Shinee e mi ha stinto tutto :( Le altre unghie sono a nudo. Dato che ormai la nail art era rovinata ho voluto testare altri 3 top coat, di cui solo uno ad asciugatura standard (il NYC Classy Glassy che ho anche usato sopra). Solo sull’unghia con quest’ultimo l’immagine è rimasta al suo posto senza macchiare in giro.

A parte questo piccolo intoppo l’immagine sotto mi piace anche più di quella sopra! Ho tenuto da parte la seconda metà (quella che andava sull’altra mano) per farci delle accent :)

All in all I prefer stamping over water decals but each technique has pros and cons. First of all not everyone likes stamping or stamps at all. I also found decals quicker to use, although longer to clean up. Obviously they are a one time use only, but they are cheap!

I think that was it for now. Weather indeed changed after my photos and it’s now raining cats and dogs. *sighs*

Personalmente ammetto che preferisco stampare piuttosto che usare i decals ma mi rendo conto che entrambe le tecniche hanno i loro pro e contro. Per prima cosa a non tutti piace stampare o lo fanno. Poi ho trovato i decals più veloci da usare ma più lunghi da pulire. E ovviamente sono monouso, però costano poco!

Hi everyone! Today we are back on the rainbow path with yellow. I actually attempted and failed a couple nail arts so in the end I only have a plain swatch for you. This is a gorgeous polish though!

Catherine Arley 801 is a yellow scattered holo, very smooth to paint, great formula, but unfortunately long time discontinued.

My pics are two coats, but you can’t really see a difference between one and two coats, which is unusual of light holos for sure! Last pic is in the shade.

Ciao a tutti! Oggi siamo di ritorno sull’arcobaleno con la tappa gialla. Sarò onesta, ho provato a fare due nail art che non mi sono riuscita quindi vi beccate uno swatch puro e semplice. Di uno smalto bellissimo però :D

Il Catherine Arley 801 è uno smalto olografico giallo dall’effetto “scattered”, ovvero non si crea il famoso arcobaleno spaccaretina. E’ uno smalto stupendo, semplice da stendere, formulazione perfetta ma… è fuori produzione da un pezzo ç_ç

Nelle mie foto vedete due passate, ma vi assicuro che tra una e due non si vede nessuna differenza, il che è davvero particolare per un olografico chiaro. L’ultima foto è all’ombra.

The downside is that it’s a little slow drying compared to standard holos, but I can sure forgive it because it’s just gorgeous!

How do you like it?

L’unica pecca di questo smalto è che asciuga più lentamente di altri holo, ma per quanto mi riguarda io glielo posso tranquillamente perdonare perchè lo trovo adorabile.

This is the well known A England St. George, my very favourite A England. It’s a dark green scattered holo and it’s just perfect! It doesn’t need any presentation.

Questo è il famosissimo A England St. George, il mio A England preferito. E’ uno smalto olografico verde scuro ed è semplicemente perfetto. Non ha bisogno di tante ciance :)

It’s time again for birthstone challenge and it’s the turn of the most precious stone: diamond! My first idea was showing you a plain silver holo but then I didn’t want to be so boring and decided to attempt a nail art instead. I browsed Pinterest in search of inspiration and I found it >here<. I realized I don’t have small silver rhinestones after I began so I had to adapt it somehow. I really like the result, although I know this nail art won’t last long realistically.

Oggi torna l’appuntamento con le pietre natali ed è il turno della pietra più preziosa: il diamante. La mia idea iniziale è stata di farvi vedere un semplice smalto olografico argento ma poi ho cambiato idea, mi sembrava troppo banale. Ho iniziato a cercare su Pinterest qualche ispirazione per una nail art e l’ho trovata >qui<. Mi sono accorta un po’ troppo tardi che non ho degli strass argento piccoli quindi l’ho dovuta adattare a quel che avevo. Il risultato mi piace tantissimo anche se mi rendo conto che una nail art del genere non può durare a lungo.

I used Nyx Matte White, China Glaze Calypso Blue, China Glaze Electric Beat, no-name stamping yellow, BPS flower stickers, pink rhinestone on my pinkie only and topped it all with NYC Classy Glassy.

I am pretty sure the other Rainbow Ladies had better luck with today’s theme, let’s have a look!

Hi everyone! I guess I have been somewhat MIA this week. I’m so sorry! It’s always like that for me when holidays are approaching. I struggle to find the time to do anything.

Anyway, last month I stumbled upon a brand new L’Oreal collection: Les Blancs. It’s all washed out pastels which looked perfect for Spring and as nail art bases. I really wanted them all but the price tag of these minis is outrageous. I decided to pick the one I liked best: Lemon Meringue.

L’Oreal Lemon Meringue is a very pale yellow, or better a white with a drop of yellow in it. Formula was not the worse pastel I’ve worked with but also not easy. The good thing is that European L’oreals have my ever favourite brush so that really helped me.

Pics are two coats without top coat. You can still see some bald spots here and there but I just didn’t want to use another coat.

Ciao a tutti! Suppongo di essere stata un po’ assente questa settimana. Mi dispiace, ma ammetto che quando si avvicina qualche festa è sempre così. Faccio fatica a gestire il tempo.

Cmq, il mese scorso mi sono trovata davanti a un nuovissimo espositore della collezione L’Oreal Les Blancs. Sono dei pastelli dai colori annacquati che mi sono subito sembrati perfetti per la primavera e come base da nail art. Li avrei presi tutti non fosse per il prezzo assurdo che hanno queste boccettine. Ho deciso di scegliere quello che mi piaceva di più: il Lemon Meringue.

Il L’Oreal Lemon Meringue è un giallino pallido, o meglio un bianco con una goccia di giallo. parlando di stesura, non è tra i pastelli peggiori che io abbia mai provato ma non è nemmeno tra i migliori. La cosa bella è il pennello, che io adoro, e che mi ha aiutato parecchio con la stesura.

In foto due passate senza top coat. Si vedono ancora dei buchi più chiari ma non ho avuto voglia di dare una terza mano.

If you follow me on Facebook you might have noticed that I found the new Catrice Haute Future collection in store a couple weeks ago. I was really looking for its holos and I obviously grabbed them all!

First one is Gem Into The Future, a silver holo with some tiny flakies inside. The flakies are not visible on the nails but the polish itself is really cute. And you should believe me because I usually don’t like silver holos! But this one is just not the standard plain boring silver. I can’t tell you why but it has stolen my heart!

Se mi seguite su Facebook forse avete visto che 10 giorni fa ho trovato allo Smoll la nuova collezione Catrice Haute Future. Probabilmente sono stata una delle prime italiane fortunate :D Io cercavo gli smalti olografici di questa edizione e naturalmente me li sono accaparrati subito.

Il primo è Gem Into The Future, uno smalto olografico argento con dentro anche delle scagliette sempre holo, che però purtroppo non si vedono sulle unghie. In ogni caso questo smalto è davvero bello e potete credermi perchè a me normalmente gli smalti argento non piacciono, nemmeno se sono holo! Questo ha un qualcosa in più che non vi so spiegare, ma che mi ha fatto perdere la testa.

I don’t know why the holo sparkle photographed so dull but these are actually good linear holos with quite a strong “rainbow” payout if you know what I mean! Also, I used no special base coat and they applied perfectly. They are a little sheer though. My pics show two coats but I would have better used a third one.

All in all I can say I loved all 3 of them and I highly recommend them to anyone!

Non so perchè l’effetto olografico non risalti nelle foto, ma vi assicuro che questi smalti hanno un “effetto arcobaleno” decisamente buono. E poi non hanno bisogno di una base speciale e si stendono una meraviglia! L’unico difetto è che sono un po’ trasparenti, io nelle foto ho steso due passate, ma tre sarebbero state meglio.

In generale che dire? Io ne sono molto soddisfatta e se li trovate vi consiglio di portarveli a casa!

Hi everyone! It’s Friday again, woot woot! Sun is shining outside, it will be a great week-end ;)

Anyway, today we are leaving our rainbow path for a bonus colour. If you are into make-up and nail polish you know our rainbow is much wider than 7 colours, right? Great! Our choice is a very common colour, although I would say it’s not really loved in the nail polish world: brown. Me, I love brown, but I must admit I have mostly wintery dark shades of it. And right now I just don’t feel like wearing dark stuff. Thus I went for a holo. This is Picture Polish Demeter, which I wanted from the first time I saw a swatch of it. And now… I didn’t fall in love with it as much as I expected. It’s the flakies. I know they are holo flakies but still, I really don’t like that stuff. The colour is awesome though, so right up my alley!

These are two easy coats on a standard base, no top coat.

Ciao a tutti! E’ di nuovo venerdì, fuori splende il sol (urca urca tirulero) e quindi sarà un bellissimo fine settimana :D

Cmq, oggi lasciamo il nostro percorso sull’arcobaleno per un colore bonus. Se siete amanti dei cosmetici sapete che il nostro arcobaleno è ben più ampio di 7 colori, e la scelta di oggi è uno di quelli più comuni: il marrone. Devo dire che almeno in campo smalti il marrone non è tra i colori più amati, ma io lo adoro! Purtroppo però ho quasi solo toni più scuri e invernali, e in questo periodo la voglia di roba scura è assente :D Per questo motivo ho scelto un marrone olografico, il Picture Polish Demeter, che ho desiderato dalla sua prima foto. E adesso che l’ho messo… non lo amo come pensavo. E’ colpa dei flakies, lo so che sono olografici ma sempre flakies sono, e a me decisamente non piacciono. Il colore però lo adoro, assolutamente di mio gusto!

Queste sono due passate facili facili su una base normalissima e senza top coat.

Hi everyone! I am back with the post I promised you last Monday I think! This is the stamping I made over Essence Blow My Mint. Much better than the polish alone!

For this attempt I used a brand new stamping polish that I was sent for review from BornPrettyStore. I must admit I have an easy time stamping with any metallic or mirror but I always find it hard to pick a good creme for stamping. That is why I was so curious to try the BPS special ones. Sorry for the dirty bottle but it leaked in transit. It’s still perfect and works great though! OMG, I am so pleasantly surprised by this polish! I must say BPS rarely disappoints honestly.

This is the High Quality Stamping polish btw, and mine is colour #4 as you can guess from the pics. The bottle is 10ml for 4,19$ (well, 3,77$ if you use my KBJ61 discount code) and well, 10ml just for stamping will last you a life time!

Ciao a tutti! Eccomi col post che vi avevo promesso lunedì scorso credo. Si tratta dello stamping che ho fatto sopra l’Essence Blow My Mint. Decisamente meglio dello smalto da solo!

Questa volta ho usato uno smalto speciale da stamping nuovo di zecca che BornPrettyStore mi ha inviato a scopo valutativo. Devo dire che non faccio fatica a stampare con metallici o mirror, ma quando si tratta di creme mi è più difficile. E’ uno dei motivi per cui ero così curiosa di provare questa linea. Scusate la bottiglietta sporca ma non era chiusa bene e ne è uscito un po’ durante il viaggio. Cmq è ancora perfetto da usare, e funziona alla grande! Sono rimasta davvero sorpresa, ma a dire il vero raramente ho trovato cose che mi hanno deluso da BPS.

Come on! Isn’t it great? I really love the stamped look and the spring colours. And look at how perfectly the bps polish stamped! I swear, no photoshop! And there’s a total of 26 shades available, wow! I know I want the pastel pink for sure. That is so unusual.

Susu, non è venuto stupendo? Mi piace un sacco com’è venuta la stampa e i colori sono assolutamente primaverili. E guardate come ha stampato bene lo smalto BPS! Giuro che non ho photoshoppato niente. Tra l’altro di questa linea ci sono 26 colori o_O Io di sicuro prenderò il rosa cmq, lo trovo abbastanza strano come colore di smalto da stamping!
